PREVIEW: Ebbsfleet United v Leyton Orient

10 November 2017

The O’s visit Stonebridge Road tomorrow (kick-off 5.30pm) as we face Ebbsfleet United in the Vanarama National League.

Orient come into the game on the back of a 2-1 defeat to League One Gillingham in the Emirates FA Cup at Priestfield Stadium on Saturday.

Josh Parker opened the scoring in the 20th minute, before Tom Eaves doubled the home side’s advantage with 16 minutes remaining. James Dayton got his first goal for the O’s to pull one back but Steve Davis’ men were unable to complete the comeback.

Ebbsfleet sit in 13th position in the National League, with five wins, 10 draws and three defeats from their 18 matches.

The Fleet also saw themselves knocked out the FA Cup to League One opposition on Saturday, having let a two-goal lead slip against Doncaster Rovers as they went on to lose out 6-2.

Daryl McMahon’s side are newly promoted to the National League, having won the National League South Play-Offs last season.

TEAM NEWS

Head Coach Steve Davis has a welcome selection headache this weekend as several players returned to training this week.

Midfielder Jobi McAnuff and Dan Happe missed the trip to Gillingham last weekend through respective toe and ankle injuries, though both are available once again.

In addition, loanees Mark Ellis and James Brophy are also back in contention having missed out in Saturday’s FA Cup defeat due to being ineligible for the competition.

Alex Lawless returned to the squad on Saturday and impressed after coming off the bench and will be hopeful of featuring against Ebbsfleet, along with Matt Harrold who is eying a first start following a calf injury.

However, the O’s will definitely be without Joe Widdowson and Macauley Bonne for the trip to Ebbsfleet on Saturday. Widdowson serves a one-game suspension after being sent-off for a second yellow card in stoppage time last weekend, whilst Bonne is away on international duty with Zimbabwe in which he made his senior debut in the Warriors slender 1-0 defeat to Lesotho on Wednesday.
