COMMUNITY: New students welcomed to the Club by Assistant Coach

3 October 2017

Assistant Coach Ross Embleton was on hand last month to pass on some words of advice to the new cohort of students now embarking on their studies with Leyton Orient Trust (LOT) in unison with Waltham Forest College.

The new learners were welcomed to the club as part of their induction just before they were issued with their O’s kits and track-suits as they begin their journey as BTEC Sports and Leisure students but with the added incentive of playing football matches against other clubs and colleges.

Ross mentioned his previous association with the club, working for the Community Sports Programme (now the Trust) before moving into the academy and how his career progressed with experiences at AFC Bournemouth, Tottenham Hotspur and Swindon Town and ultimately returning to Leyton Orient.

“It’s important that you keep believing in yourselves and don’t give up on your dreams,” advised Ross.

LOT CEO Neil Taylor was also on hand to welcome the students before inviting some to partake in the ultimate Orient experience; actually on the pitch and taking a penalty in front of over 3000 fans!

A few days later, a dozen selected penalty takers took their shots during the half time interval of the O’s game versus Halifax. One lucky participant said afterwards, “That was great. I didn’t know quite what to expect when I joined Orient Trust but so far everything has been brilliant. I’m looking to playing my first game now and of course doing well on my course!”
