Orient fell to a 1-0 defeat at Boreham Wood’s Meadow Park this afternoon.
Josh Coulson went close on two occasions for the O's but couldn't see the ball over the line.
Femi Ilesanmi’s early first half strike was enough for the hosts to take all the points in the National League.
Orient got the game underway in windy Hertfordshire conditions and were put under pressure immediately when Femi ilesanmi smashed in to the roof of the net from close range after Sorba Thomas’ smart back heel, to give Boreham Wood the lead.
Keiran Murtagh was next to try his luck from distance, Dean Brill saw the ball late but still he managed to tip it to safety.
Thomas picked up a loose ball in the Orient box and fired a shot on goal which looked certain to trouble Brill but Marvin Ekpiteta was alert to slide in and make the challenge to block the effort.
Orient’s first attempt on goal came after 15 minutes when Jobi McAnuff struck inches over the bar from 20-yards after he had received the ball inside from Josh Koroma.
Dale Gorman had an identical effort on goal to McAnuff’s earlier chance, this time Ryan Huddart in the Boreham Wood net parried the ball away from danger after 34 minutes of play.
The best chance of the half came two minutes before the break, Josh Coulson was up for a corner and watched as his shot came back off the post before The Wood cleared.
The O’s started the second-half on the front foot and enjoyed spells of possession, but it was the hosts who watched their front mam Gozie Ugwu head over Brill’s net from six-yards early on.
Shortly after an hour had passed Coulson went close to levelling the scores again when his header from McAnuff’s corner was brilliantly palmed over by Huddart.
Fifteen minutes remained on the clock when McAnuff’s low drive dropped wide of the target by a matter of inches after winger Brophy cut inside and found the skipper in space.
The Orient pressure continued well in to the half with the hosts only threatening from the counter. Koroma picked up the ball and turned his man in midfield before he unleashed a powerful effort on goal but it fell wide of the target.
Brophy was heavily involved in the latter stages, his cut back found Koroma inside the box, the forward set himself then prodded towards goal but Huddart did well to save with his leg.
Second later Bonne watches on as his shot from 8-yards was blocked by a wall of Boreham Wood bodies as the defenders threw themselves at the forwards effort.
After an additional five minutes referee James Oliver blew the whistle as Orient fell to just their second league defeat of the season.
