On Wednesday 21 November, O’s player Danny Happe went back to his old school, Chase Lane Primary School in Chingford, to visit pupils and teachers.
As part of the visit he joined Leyton Orient Trust Schools Development Coach, Sam Lowne, in his football session with year 5 pupils.
Danny answered questions from the class about what it’s like to be a professional footballer, before getting involved in the lesson, helping pupils to practice their passing skills.
The signed shirt was the limited edition commemorative design, launched to recognise the Club’s role in World War 1.
Mrs. Field, Danny’s Year 1 teacher, said: “It’s fantastic to have Daniel back in school today - apart from seeing how tall he’s grown! - It’s lovely for the children that are in Chase Lane today to see how well he’s done, and also for them to understand that he’s achieved it through his own hard work. He always tried his best at school, so it’s no surprise that he’s succeeded.”
Miss Houstoun, Head Teacher, said: “For us it’s so lovely to see how children have gone on and blossomed into adults and succeeded. And it’s lovely for the children to see you can succeed in so many different ways, it may be an academic way or in a practical way.”
