Over 150 pupils their teachers and parents from Chase Lane Primary School came to the Matchroom Stadium on Saturday 27 January. The match day experience was organised by Leyton Orient Trust as part of the +Sport Move and Learn programme.
Leyton Orient Football Club had kindly donated tickets for the whole school group to enjoy the home game against Aldershot Town. Pupils that have been taking part in the +Sport Move and Learn sessions were invited to be flag bearers and the Guard of Honour before the match. Kent Teague also arranged a special surprise for the group to attend the Man of the Match presentation afterwards, which was awarded to George Elokobi.
+Sport Move and Learn is a programme that aims to foster an enjoyment of movement and physical activity among children, through building an understanding of the importance of exercise and balanced diets for a positive lifestyle, and providing access to a range of exciting sport activities. Development Coaches from Leyton Orient Trust deliver these sessions in Primary schools across Redbridge, Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Waltham Forest, including Chase Lane Primary School in Chingford.
Tim Barker, Head of Year 5, Chase Lane Primary School: “It was fantastic seeing the children parade around the stadium. They were beaming! Then having the opportunity to meet George after the game was really the icing on the cake. It was a brilliant day”
Samuel, Year 5 Pupil, Chase Lane Primary School: “It was unbelievable being on the pitch and being so close to the players as they came on before kick-off. I even got a high five from some of the players! I had a great day at Leyton Orient.”
James Court, Lead Development Coach, Leyton Orient Trust: “We have a close relationship with Chase Lane having delivered PE sessions and other curriculum based programmes at the school since 2015. It was wonderful to see the pupils and parents enjoying the occasion and having the opportunity to watch a live football match.”
