COMMUNITY: George Scott tribute unveiled in the George, Wanstead

17 January 2018

On Tuesday January 9, at the George Public House, Wanstead, a small group of O's fans met to commemorate former-O’ and World War I hero George Scott.

George Scott was among the 41 members of the Clapton Orient squad and staff that were the first in England to sign up en-masse and unfortunately passed away on August 16 1916, the second of three O’s players to be killed in the war.

Among those in attendance were O’s forward Sam Dalby and Head of Commercial Steve Dixon, along with the Club’s WW1 Historian Steve Jenkins and O’s fan Davis Watson, who led the efforts to create the tribute.

Orient fans present were treated to a reading of a letter from Scott’s Great-Granddaughter Pat Smith who stated the tribute was a “lovely and inspired idea”.
