PREVIEW: Benfica B (N)

13 July 2018

The O’s cap off their training camp in Portugal with a tough test against Benfica B tomorrow.

Justin Edinburgh's men arrived in Albufeira on Monday morning and have been put through their paces, and will look to build on the 7-0 win over Harlow Town last weekend.

Benfica B are the reserve team of Portugese giants S.L. Benfica, and play in Portugal's second tier LigaPro. The side finished in 13th position last season, five points above the relegation zone, and have recently appointed Bruno Lage as Head Coach.

The Águias' reserve team contains Englishman Chris Willock, who joined from Arsenal in the summer of 2017, while midfielder Keaton Parks made his international debut for USA in May against Bolivia.

The Portugese side won their first pre-season match 8-1 on Thursday, beating Pinhalnovense in Seixal. Their goals came from Ivan Šaponjić (2), Guga, Martin Chrien, Rodrigo Conceição, Daniel dos Anjos, Diogo Pinto and an own goal.

TEAM NEWS

Head Coach Justin Edinburgh is likely his squad of players in tomorrow's match, Josh Koroma will be looking to add to the four goals he scored against Harlow Town.

Dale Gorman and Matt Harrold have had involvement in training this week, but still remain out with injury while Charlie Grainger is unlikely to be fit enough to play.

IN THE BUILD UP
"It will be a difficult game for us, but one we look forward to. Something different that we won't encounter much this season, they'll be a possession based team so it will be a good test"
