NEWS: Gorman becomes first O's Signing of Summer

Dale Gorman arrives in E10

14 June 2018

The Club are delighted to confirm the signing of midfielder Dale Gorman on a two year deal following his release from Stevenage.

The Northern Irish midfielder began his career at hometown club Letterkenny Rovers before making the move to England in May 2013, signing scholarship terms with Stevenage.

The 21-year-old signed his first professional contract in May 2015, making his debut in the 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town in the League Cup in August, subsequently making 14 appearances across the 2015/16 season being rewarded with a new three-year-deal.

Gorman became a staple in the League Two team the following season scoring his first goal in a 2-1 win over Barnet in December 2016. He made 30 appearances that term, once again agreeing a new deal that would keep him at Broadhall Way until 2019.

The 11-time Northern Ireland U21 international made a further 27 appearances for the Boro this season before breaking his ankle in a 3-1 defeat to Coventry in April, and agreeing his departure from the Club at the end of the season.

Gorman told leytonorient.com upon his arrival, "I am delighted to sign for this great Club and I am looking forward to the success in the future. With the players, people and fans we have here already the new season is set to be something special, and I can't wait to get started."

Director of Football Martin Ling added "We are delighted to welcome Dale Gorman to the football club. He is a young and energetic central midfielder with football league experience, playing over 50 games in League Two. He is a lad that has been on our radar for a while and compliments the other central midfielders we already have at the Club. Gorman will be wearing the number 17 shirt for us in the 2018/19 Season."

Welcome to the Club Dale!
