Orient fall out of the FA Cup after this afternoon’s 2-0 defeat at Maidstone United’s Gallagher Stadium.
Maidstone got the ball rolling in sunny conditions at the Gallagher Stadium after skipper Charlie Lee lead the O’s on to the pitch.
Orient started the brighter of the sides with Sam Ling heavily involved in the opening stages. The wing back’s crosses looked dangerous as he aimed for Macauley Bonne or Matt Harrold inside the box but the Stones dealt with the balls in comfortably.
After 13 minutes of play, Orient’s Dale Gorman watched as his drilled shot from distance flashed wide of the far post before Orient continued their dominance when Harrold’s header bounced over the target from Charlie Lee’s cross.
Goman and Lee linked up on two occasions but the latter’s header hit the back of his own man, Marvin Ekpiteta who knew nothing about the ball before the hosts cleared.
Eight minutes of the first half remained when Gorman’s shot deflected in to the path of Ling who fired at goal from 15-yard but Worgan was alert to gather the danger.
Maidstone saw their first clear chance of the game dragged wide by Blair Turgott after he pounced upon a loose ball just outside the Orient net.
The hosts continued their spell of pressure when Will De Haviland only just missed getting a connection on the ball at the back post after Jack Powell’s corner was swung in to the box as the whistle blew for half time.
Orient started the second half in similar fashion to the first, Harrold and Bonne saw efforts blocked inside the 18-yard box.
However, it was Maidstone who took the lead after 54 minutes when Blair Turgott collected the ball on the counter and sprinted towards goal before he tucked the ball away for the opener.
Harrold watched as his header from James Brophy’s chipped cross was blocked by Alex Finney, there were calls for hand-ball but referee Will Finnie waved appeals away.
Six minutes after the hour mark, Josh Coulson was present in the box to glance Gorman’s free-kick towards goal but the ball bounced kindly for Worgan who parried the danger clear.
After 76 minutes, Maidstone doubled their lead in similar fashion to the opener when Elloitt Romain was released through on goal and placed the ball in to the bottom corner of the net.
Orient went close when Bonne’s flick on found Josh Koroma at the back post but the forward couldn’t get the ball under control before he watched it out of play.
Maidstone saw the remainder of the game out after efforts from Coulson and Koroma were not enough to see the O’s in to the next round before Finnie blew for full-time.
