The Challenge Culture: Why the Most Successful Organizations Run on Pushback

By: Nigel Travis, Executive Chairman of Dunkin’ Brands, Publishes Tomorrow

The world is moving at a pace that we’ve never seen before and just keeps moving faster. To succeed, any organization, from Fortune 500 companies to nonprofits to soccer clubs, needs to constantly challenge the way they do everything.

After decades of experience, I’ve found that positive pushback, civil discourse and questioning of the status quo is what moves successful organizations forward. This is what I explore in my new book, “The Challenge Culture: Why the Most Successful Organizations Run on Pushback,” which is now available at retailers and booksellers nationwide.

What is the challenge culture? It is not an aggressive approach, and it is not about constant criticism. In fact, it’s the antithesis to a traditional authoritarian approach. Simply put, the challenge culture is all about creating an environment where everyone – from the newest recruit to the CEO – can question everything without trashing anyone.

Creating a challenge culture at an organization does not happen overnight, and my approach has been decades in the making. My years at Blockbuster as it faced the Netflix challenge, my experiences at Papa John’s Pizza and Dunkin’ Brands, and how we took over Leyton Orient FC.

To learn more about the challenge culture, you can purchase my new book at retailers and booksellers nationwide, or online at amazon.co.uk (UK) or amazon.com (USA).  Profits from the sale of the book in the U.S. will benefit the Joy in Childhood Foundation, the charitable foundation supported by Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins whose mission is to provide the simple joys of childhood to the kids who are  facing illness or hunger.
