Orient stretched their unbeaten start to the season to nine games after a 3-0 win over Solihull Moors at The Breyer Group Stadium on Tuesday night.
A Charlie Lee goal seconds before the break followed by a Macauley Bonne goal and Matt Harrold finisher saw the O's take all three points.
Edinburgh named an unchanged XI for the fifth consecutive game, with the only change coming on the bench where Alex Lawless replaced Dale Gorman who is on Northern Ireland international duty.
Orient got us underway at The Breyer Group Stadium on a chilly Tuesday night under the lights and Josh Koroma registered the first chance on goal with a curled effort 25-yards from goal after Macauley Bonne’s smart lay off.
Bonne was involved again, this time the forward’s diving header from Joe Widdowson’s cross flew wide of the target.
After eight minutes of play, Myles Judd’s whipped cross found the head of Bonne who couldn’t direct the ball goal-wards.
Solihull Moors grew in to the game quickly, when a rapid counter attack ended with Dan Brill diving low to his right to divert Danny Wrights driven shot wide.
With only 12 minutes on the clock, Orient had their fourth chance of the game. Charlie Lee’s long throw was flicked towards the back post by Marvin Ekpiteta but dropped inches wide of the woodwork.
End to end stuff in E10 when Cory O’Keeffe’s shot, identical to Wright’s moments earlier was palmed wide by Brill before the O’s ‘keeper was alert to save Kyle Storer’s rebound shot from 12-yards with his feet.
Up the Orient end, Dayton’s corner was met by the free-head of Lee 6-yards from goal but the midfielder couldn’t get clean enough contact with the ball to see it drop inside the post.
With 22 minutes on the clock, Solihull’s long goal kick broke to Adi Yussuf who looked to be one-on-one with Brill but Ekpiteta just about done enough to force the forward wide before his shot struck the side-netting.
Moments after the half hour mark, Jobi McAnuff’s through ball found James Dayton in space, the midfielder took a touch but dragged is shot wide of the target.
A Solihull free-kick is headed clear but only as far as Luke Maxwell on the edge of the box, the midfielder strikes a first-time effort goal-wards but Craig Clay is alert to head the ball clear off the line.
McAnuff’s chipped cross was cleared to the edge of the box where Lee waited and hit a first-time volley in to the hands of Ryan Boot in the visitor’s goal.
Deep in to injury time, Lee’s free header this time dropped inside the post and gave the O’s the lead.
Both teams returned unchanged for the second half and Solihull Moors got us back underway.
Within ten minutes of the restart, Jamie Reckord received a yellow and red card within a matter of minutes of each other to sink the visitors to 10-men.
After the dismissal, Orient began to enjoy large spells of possession but a rapid counter attack from Solihull saw Wright’s cut back drilled towards goal but Brill does very well to make the diving save.
Swift Orient football saw Dayton play Judd in field, the full-back’s chipped cross came to Bonne at the back post but Boot was equal to the striker’s header.
With only four minutes left on the clock, Judd cleared Solihull’s corner to Josh Koroma who advanced in to the box and crossed for Bonne who tapped home from the back post to double the O’s lead.
Judd was involved again, his long ball down the right found Bonne whose shot was parried in to the path of newly introduced Matt Harrold who had the easy job of tapping in to an empty net to stretch the lead to three goals.
Orient saw the remainder of the game out comfortably in control of the game as the unbeaten start to the season continued.
