In order to finance the build and fit out of the West and North Stands, Barry Hearn, when Chairman of Leyton Orient, sold the virtual freehold of a portion of the West stand to an unconnected third-party property company which critically enabled the development of the West and North Stands.

The potential sale is of the subleased portion of the West Stand currently occupied by the NHS and will not affect the Club’s use of the West Stand or the stadium as the Club has its own separate lease relating to the Clubs space it occupies in the West Stand.

Matchroom Sport and Barry Hearn’s pension fund who currently own the ground, have been excellent landlords to the Club and we look forward to maintaining a positive relationship with them moving forward.
