It's a trip to Wembley for the O's after today's 1-2 Semi-Final win at AFC Telford United. The score after the second leg ended 1-3.
Orient got the game underway at a packed and noisy New Bucks Head.
The first chance of the game fell to the hosts Telford, who saw their skipper Shane Sutton head towards goal at the back post, but a strong hand from Dean Brill pushed the ball onto the post before our keeper smothered the danger.
But we recorded the first chance that counted, Matt Harrold raced to get on the end of a mix-up in Telford’s defence to slide the ball home after Ross White’s over hit back-pass.
The early Orient goal settled the game as both sides enjoyed possession without any clear chances on goal.
We went close again just as 20 minutes showed on the clock, Jamie Turley who had an earlier chance, this time he headed McAnuff’s corner-kick against the crossbar and out of play.
We were reduced to ten men just after 25 minutes of play, Matt Harrold was sent off for a foul on Sutton according to referee Peter Wright.
Despite the dismissal, we continued to search for another goal. Turley again proved to be our danger man from set-pieces, he watched his header drop inches wide of the post following McAnuff’s corner kick.
However, Telford made their man advantage count after Ellis Deeney tucked the ball into the near post from distance to bring the scores on the day level.
There were chances for both sides as the half drew to a close, Brendon Daniels of Telford stung the hands of Brill, before McAnuff forced Wycherley into a wonderful save moments before the whistle.
Telford attacked straight from the restart but James McQuilkin was denied by an excellent sliding challenge from Ekpiteta.
The hosts had the majority of the ball thanks to their advantage but the O’s defended the box tightly restricting Telford to only strikes from range which saw Theo Streete clear the stand behind Brill’s goal.
Telford were caught on the counter by Bonne and Brophy, the latter cut the ball back to the former on the edge of the box but our forward struck wide of the target with under 20 minutes left to play.
It was the O’s however who got the next goal, Ekpiteta headed McAnuff’s free-kick back across goal where Coulson waited and nodded beyond the stranded Wycherley to excellently restore our lead.
It proved the killer blow as Telford were unable to turn their majority of possession into any meaningful chances and we held on to rech Wembley in the Buildbase FA Trophy and record seven straight wins on the bounce.
