Dean Brill joined the O’s as Goalkeeping Coach on August 4, 2017, having spent the second half of the 2016-17 season at Sky Bet League Two side Colchester United.
Brill arrived with a wealth of playing experience, having progressed through the Centre of Excellence at Luton Town.
After making his professional debut in 2003, Brill went on to make a total of 97 appearances for the Kenilworth Road outfit prior to leaving at the end of the 2008-09 season after helping the Hatters win the Football League Trophy.
Spells at Oldham Athletic and Barnet then followed for Brill, before he returned to Luton ahead of the 2012-13 campaign in which he made a further seven appearances.
Brill made the switch to Scotland in July 2013 to join Inverness Caledonian Thistle and enjoyed three years at the Caledonian Stadium.
Last summer saw Brill sign for fellow Scottish Premier League side Motherwell, prior to returning to England in January 2017 in order to sign for Colchester United until the end of the season.
Brill initially joined the O’s in the summer of 2017 as Goalkeeping coach after leaving Colchester United but was named in then-Head Coach Justin Edinburgh’s starting XI for 24 games as the ‘keeper.
The 33-year-old then signed a two-year contract extension as a player in February 2018 and has made 83 appearances for the Club prior to the start of the 2019/20 season.
He collected 23 clean sheets in all competitions in 2018/19, equalling the Club record for most clean sheets in a season, and was vital in the O’s securing the National League title, appearing in every minute in every game that season.
In the 2019/20 season, Brill was forced into retirement through injury – joining the O’s backroom team as a First-Team Coach, before being appointed Goalkeeping Coach prior to the start of the 2020/21 season.
