Chilean international Lawrence Vigouroux, put pen to paper on January 2nd 2020 to sign an 18-month contract that would make the goalkeeper the O’s first signing of the decade.
Having spent some of his youth and early senior years at Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, the 26-year-old joined the O’s from Chilean top-division side, Everton de Viña following on from a short spell at Waterford in the Irish Premier Division.
Before his time at Everton de Viña and Waterford, Lawrence spent 4 years at Swindon Town, where he made 119 appearances over his loan and permanent spells at the club. When Vigouroux made the permanent move to Swindon in 2016, he hit excellent form during the season with 12 clean sheets which would inevitably see him take home the player of the season award.
It was this excellent form that earned Lawrence his first-ever senior international call-up with Chile against South Korea and Japan.
Vigouroux picked up the awards for Player of the Year, Manager’s Player of the Year and Player’s Player of The Season for 2020/21, and signed a new two-year contract in July 2021.
