Defender Ekpiteta signed for the O’s in January 2018, penning a two-and-a-half year deal in E10.
Ekpiteta started his career at Oxford United and had spells at Chelmsford City and Concord Rangers before joining East Thurrock where he racked up over 100 National League South appearances for the Essex club.
The six-foot-four central defender was a deadline-day signing for the O’s and initially returned to East Thurrock on loan for the remainder of the season as part of the transfer, but was recalled to the O’s squad just over a month later and handed his debut in a 1-0 defeat away to Dover Athletic.
A 65 minute impressive home debut and five starts in the last five games of the 2017/18 National League season followed for the 22-year-old.
The defender cemented his status as first choice defender through the 2018/19 season as he made 46 appearances in all competitions, netting on six occasions. His performances were instrumental in the O’s securing the National League title and promotion back to the EFL.
